Last week, the Port Authority of Cartagena handed over to the Pablo Ugarte Association (APU) the 12,000 euros collected in the III Carrera Solidaria 10K Puerto de Cartagena, a sport event of charitable nature that took place on October 6th and in which Yacht Port Cartagena participated.
The sports event was organized by the Port Authority of Cartagena, in collaboration with the Ayuntamiento of Cartagena, the Comunidad Autónoma de la Región de Murcia and the Runtritón Sports Club.
The third edition of the race, which brought together more than 4,000 participants, included as a novelty the incorporation of the iconic Santa Lucía neighbourhood.
The winners of the race were José Carlos Caparrós García (Real Estate Club Paris), in the male category; Sandra García-Pagán Bonnardeaux (Club CD Runtritón Cartagena), in the female category; and the Mobel Automenor Running Club in the team category.
APU is an organization that fights child cancer and was born in memory of Pablo Ugarte, who died after suffering from cancer. The association, founded by its parents and friends, has as its motto «Leave the oncologists unemployed». The association helps children’s cancer research as well as children and their families. At present, it has more than 2,000 associates and is present all over the country.
